It looks like you’re ready to start filming. Here are the 5 most common mistakes we come across:
1. Eye contact 👀
This one’s kind of tough. When filming yourself, avoid looking at your face on the screen. To keep eye contact with your audience,
look at the camera lens otherwise it looks like you’re looking off to the side.
2. Shakiness 👋
When filming, hold your phone with both hands, keep your arms close to your body, or prop yourself on a stable surface for extra stability. If you’re filming yourself, position your hand comfortably before hitting record to reduce any shaking.
3. Cut off ✂️
Give yourself 3 seconds before and after you start talking to give wiggle room for the editor.
4. Panning 🖼
Keep things static, unless panning is really necessary. If you do need to pan, be sure to do it slowly or else the image will be unwatchable!
5. Echo 🗣
Last but not least, avoid echoey spaces. This would typically be hallways, corridors, empty rooms, or rooms with marble or stone walls and floors.
